MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA – For Immediate Release (March 2, 2016) – Montgomery Ballet is proud to announce its performance of Messiah March 17 and 19, 2016 on the Festival Stage at Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, Alabama. Founded in 1958, Montgomery Ballet is the only professional dance company in the city of Montgomery and is one of three in the state of Alabama.
Choreographed by Co-Artistic Director Joseph Villalobos, this original production will feature Montgomery Ballet School students and professional company, as well as Co-Artistic Director Laura Villalobos and members of the community. Set to Handel’s lush music and featuring sets and costumes by Seay Earehart, the ballet is to tell the story of the Messiah in conjunction with Easter. This marks only the third time in the Montgomery Ballet’s history that the company will perform on the Festival Stage at ASF.
Public performances will be offered on Thursday March 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday March 19th at 2:00pm Tickets range from $20-$50 and are available via the Alabama Shakespeare Festival website.
Montgomery Ballet’s 2016 performance of Messiah is made possible through generous donations from Commercial Properties, Inc, City of Montgomery, Wind Creek Hospitality, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama the Caring Foundation, Hyundai, SMI Advertising, Inc, and MSB New Media.

Montgomery Ballet’s Summer Intensive Program focuses on ballet, and also offers a wide variety of classes in other dance forms including Jazz, Modern, Variations and Partnering. Our 2016 Summer Intensive program begins on July 11, 2016 and concludes on July 29, 2016. The program is designed for those who desire the best training available and to offer serious dancers insight into life as a professional dancer.

Tuition for our Summer Intensive program is $350 per week. If you enroll in all three weeks, tuition is $900.

Montgomery Ballet is holding a Musical Theater Workshop with Thaddeus Morris on February 12th through 14th, 2016. Dancers ages 8 and older are welcome to register. The registration deadline is February 10, 2016. .
The workshop is $100. Discounts are available for Montgomery Ballet students and early enrollment. Early enrollment ends on February 5, 2016.
The workshop will be held at Montgomery Ballet studios located at 2101 Eastern Boulevard, Suite 223, Montgomery, Alabama 36117.

About Our Guest Instructor, Thaddeus Morris
Thaddeus Morris, a graduate of Belhaven University with a BFA in Musical Theater, is from San Antonio, Texas. His latest theatrical appearances include the portrayals of Cain and Japeth in Children of Eden. Other professional performances include Guest Artist appearances in The Nutcracker with Mejia Ballet International, Snow White with San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet, as well as work with Twin City Ballet in Louisiana. Thaddeus has experience in a variety of roles; his roles in productions range from Jesus in Godspell to Damis in Tartuffe, as well as various roles in Curtains, Ice Island, The Drunkard, Henry V and Into the Woods. Thaddeus is also involved in other aspects of production, such as lighting, sound design and set construction, making him quite the well-rounded performer. Thaddeus would like to thank the Montgomery Ballet for this opportunity to teach and share his talents and knowledge with the next generation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MONTGOMERY, Alabama (November 11, 2015) – Montgomery Ballet is proud to announce its 40th Anniversary performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker December 11-13 at Troy University’s Davis Theatre in Downtown Montgomery, Alabama. Founded in 1958, Montgomery Ballet is the only professional dance company in the city of Montgomery and is one of two in the state of Alabama.
This year’s Nutcracker performance will serve as a homecoming celebration of sorts for Montgomery Ballet. Montgomery Ballet alumni (2008-12) Joey and Laura Villalobos returned as Co-Artistic and School Directors in the summer of 2015 and are choreographing this year’s production. Abigail Morwood (née Maruna), soloist with Cincinnati Ballet and alumna of Montgomery Ballet School will join Montgomery Ballet for two of its four public performances.
“We are so honored to have Abigail Morwood join Montgomery Ballet on stage for our 40th anniversary performance. To have a student go out into the world and succeed and then return home and share her gift with her hometown is really something quite special,” says Montgomery Ballet Member of the Board Dottye Hannan.
As part of its continuing designation as the official performing dance company of the City of Montgomery, The Montgomery Ballet is offering a Linking Education and the Arts Program (LEAP) School Performance on Friday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. In honor of Veteran’s Day and as a gesture of appreciation to Montgomery’s military community, Montgomery Ballet will provide 250 complimentary tickets for military veterans, service members, and their families. Schools and other qualified groups are encouraged to reserve tickets by contacting Montgomery Ballet via telephone or email.
Public performances will be offered on Friday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and conclude on Sunday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for The Nutcracker vary in price from $15 to $30. Sugarplum Fairy Parties will be hosted on Saturday and Sunday immediately following the 2:00 p.m. performances. Tickets are $10. On Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:00am Montgomery Ballet is offering deeply discounted tickets to schools, students, and youth groups interested in attending our 40th Anniversary production of The Nutcracker!
Tickets to The Nutcracker are $7 per person and are available on a first come, first served basis. You will receive one complimentary ticket for every 20 paid tickets.
Schools must plan to arrive no later than 9:45am on December 11, 2015 at the Davis Theater in Montgomery, Alabama in order to be seated for the performance.
