History of Dance School Performance

The “History of Dance” is an educational dance performance presented by Montgomery Ballet about the evolution of dance through the passing of time. The presentation is carefully put together and takes the audience members through the early stages of concert dance, social and folk dancing and their development into classical ballet. It then goes on to depict the “breaking of the rules” and the emergence of modern and contemporary dance that began here in the United States and finally, it portrays the birth of tap dance, jazz and hip hop, the all-American dance forms. Every genre talked about is showcased on stage by the Montgomery ballet professional dancers and all the explanations are done by a commentator who is the coordinator of the entire show.

“History of Dance” is set up to be affordable and convenient. With the set price, the Montgomery Ballet staff will arrive at your school on a date agreed upon and transform the designated space, such as the school theatre, gymnasium or cafeteria into a performance-ready venue. A dance floor will be laid out, a sound system will be put up and the dancers will arrive with their costumes ready to perform.

“History of dance” is fun, entertaining and interactive. It is highly educational and gives the means to students to see the development of dance styles through the passing of time first hand, at the convenience of their own school.
