History of Dance – In Studio Presentation

The “History of Dance” is an educational dance performance presented by Montgomery Ballet about the evolution of dance through the passing of time. The presentation is carefully put together and takes the audience members through the early stages of concert dance, social and folk dancing and their development into classical ballet. It then goes on to depict the “breaking of the rules” and the immergence of modern and contemporary dance that begun here in the United States and finally, it portrays the birth of tap dance, jazz and hip hop, the all-American dance forms. Every genre talked about is showcased on stage by the Montgomery ballet professional dancers and all the explanations are done by a commentator who is the coordinator of the entire show.

“History of dance” is fun, entertaining and interactive. It is highly educational and gives the means to students to see the development of dance styles through the passing of time first hand.
