New Studio
FOR IMPORTANT IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Montgomery Ballet announces the completion of Phase II of the company’s return to its Cloverdale roots. The new studio on 1044 E. Fairview Avenue, in the heart of the old district of Cloverdale, is now complete and in operation. Phase III is currently being planned as we look forward to the future development of the building.
After a lengthy post-Covid construction period, Montgomery Ballet, the city’s resident professional company, opens the door to this new state of the art facility set up for quality dance training and performances. Featuring professional dance floors, mirrors, Barres, a dressing room and a costume shop, this facility along with its professional staff is ready to serve its community at the highest standard.
The facility will host the everyday activities of the Montgomery Ballet professional company, such as company class and rehearsals and will be converted to a Black Box theatre, which will host performances throughout this coming season. The new studio will also host the activities of the Montgomery Ballet Academy. The Academy offers classes for children Ages 3 to 18 and for adults of any age. Dance classes of various genres and levels will be offered to the community with its main focus being the art of classical ballet. The Academy students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside the professional dancers during the annual full length performances of The Nutcracker and Ballet and the Beasts as well as the end of year recital. They will be taught and coached by our team with care and professionalism.
The new studio will also be home to several other organizations in the industry of fitness and the arts. It will host Pilates with “Pilates Fusion”, tai chi through “Random Tai Chi” and more as well as other various dance classes from different genres. It will also be used to put up performances open to the Montgomery Community through the year. All classes offered by the facility are listed on our website www.montgomeryballet.org. We invite the community to stop by for a class or to simply swing by and take a look at the space with possible ideas on how to utilize it so that we can all contribute to a more vibrant art-loving Cloverdale community and beyond.
Here’s is what our Executive and Artistic Director Danny Mitsios said about the completion of the new studio “I am so thrilled to bring a home for the arts in the Cloverdale Community. This will not only be a dance studio but also a rehearsal and performance space not only to Montgomery Ballet but also to other arts organizations that may want to use it. The vision is to create an art hub with quality work and maximum community engagement; to create a theater district right here in the heart of our town. I can’t wait to see everyone come together and enjoy the space along with its activities.”
The Montgomery Ballet is moving forward and planning out their 2022 – 2023 season. Registration is currently open for the Montgomery Ballet School. Additionally, dates are set for the fall and winter performances. Ballet and the Beasts will be September 30 at the Montgomery Zoo. This performance is free to the public. Nutcracker at MPAC (December 13 LEAP, December 14), Pike Road at the Chapel at the Waters (November 22), and Greenville at Greenville High School (December 4, December 5 LEAP). The organization might expand to other cities as well. Tickets go on sale in September. Dates still to come will be the Montgomery Ballet’s annual Mardi Gras event and Spring Production. To highlight our move to Cloverdale the performances in the spring will be hosted in the new space.

The Montgomery Ballet will be hosting a series of Open House events. These events will be a time for the community to see the new space and highlight what has been accomplished and inform the community of future plans of the building. As dates are set, they will be posted on the organization’s social media and their website.
