26th Annual Ballet and the Beasts at the Montgomery Zoo

MONTGOMERY ZOO (Montgomery, AL): Enjoy an evening at the Montgomery Zoo Friday, September 23rd for the 26th Annual Ballet and the Beasts performance. The Montgomery Ballet and the Zoo partner to present this unique ballet performance every year to raise awareness for dance and the arts in the City of Montgomery. Admission to the event is free. Gates open at 6pm.

This year’s event will feature a special pre-show. Beginning at 6:45 pm, students from dance schools outside the county will perform, as well as students of the Montgomery Ballet School, presenting an uncommon opportunity for dance exchange. The professional company will take the stage at 7:30 pm, performing a revamped version of “Into the Wild,” choreographed by Co-Artistic director Joseph Villalobos. Set to music by the Penguin Café Orchestra, the ballet, also featuring trainees from Texas, highlights dancers caricatured as different animals, frolicking on stage.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and relax under the stars with family and friends. Refreshments and light snacks will be available for purchase, or guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Face-painting by the Ballet, and Ballet merchandise for purchase round out this fun-filled family event.

The City of Montgomery Zoo and the Montgomery Ballet join together to make this free event one of Montgomery’s cultural highlights of the year. Make plans to attend with family and friends. More than 1200 people attended the 2015 event. For more information on the Montgomery Ballet and its upcoming events, check out www.montgomeryballet.org.
